NOXUBEE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL Celebrates the CLASS OF 2023 WITH REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS


Macon, Mississippi – Noxubee County High School held its highly anticipated graduation ceremony on May 19th at the Noxubee County High School Gymnasium, marking the culmination of the academic journey for the "Elite Class of 2023." The graduating seniors, hailing from Noxubee County, have left an indelible mark on their alma mater, boasting a combined total of 88 confirmed graduates and nearly 2 million dollars in scholarship awards.

With a resounding theme of excellence, valedictorian Laniya Lewis, of Macon, achieved an impressive 4.86 GPA, and salutatorian Sha'Diamin Wilkerson, of Macon, maintained a stellar 4.62 GPA, led their fellow classmates throughout their high school tenure. These exceptional students have consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication and academic prowess, serving as beacons of inspiration for their peers.


The graduation ceremony was marked by poignant speeches and heartfelt moments. Principal Aiesha Brooks extended a warm welcome to the graduates, acknowledging their individuality and emphasizing the limitless possibilities that lie ahead. "This four-year journey is not your last, but only your beginning," she affirmed. "Always remember that you have the power to be anything you want to be. Be true to yourself and embrace the awesome potential within you."

Dr. Washington Cole, IV, the Noxubee County School District Superintendent of Education, took great pride in accepting the graduating class with enthusiasm and a profound sense of accomplishment. Crossing the stage one by one, the graduates were met with smiles and applause, representing the collective pride felt by parents, teachers, and administrators in attendance.


Among the notable achievements of the Class of 2023, eight graduates distinguished themselves by earning an associate's degree through dual enrollment at East Mississippi Community College. Their dedication to pursuing higher education while still in high school is a testament to their ambition and thirst for knowledge.

Assistant Principal Karen Dixion, moved by nostalgia and a sense of fulfillment, shared heartfelt hugs with some of the graduates whom she had once taught during her tenure at Earl Nash Elementary. This touching display of connection and mentorship underscored the enduring impact that educators have on their students' lives.



As the graduates embark on their respective paths beyond high school, they carry with them a sense of purpose and determination. Armed with their exceptional academic achievements and the invaluable life lessons imparted during their time at Noxubee County High School, the Elite Class of 2023 is poised to make a lasting impact in their communities and shape the future.
